TL;DR Kharon is seeking a Business Development Intern to dedicate up to 20 hours per week in a remote capacity and join us as we work to shape the way businesses perceive and navigate global risks. Transition to full time employment is possible, though not guaranteed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct in-depth business intelligence research across companies, industries, and geographies, with particular emphasis on financial crime, sanctions risk, and supply chain security.
  • Proactively map the market and identify strategic business development opportunities, including potential leads and key entry points within banks, corporates, law firms, consultancies, and public sector entities.
  • Support the maintenance and accuracy of internal systems by reviewing, updating, and organising records across shared drives and CRM platforms.
  • Contribute to the development and optimisation of workflows and operational processes to improve the effectiveness of business development and marketing functions.
  • Provide flexible, hands-on support across business development and sales initiatives, ensuring the team’s strategic and tactical objectives are met.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in Business, International Relations, Political Science, or a related field.
  • Academic or professional exposure to global security, international relations, financial crime, compliance, or regulatory environments. Banking sector risk management experience strongly preferred. 
  • An interest in or understanding of compliance frameworks such as anti-money laundering, financial crime and illicit financing, sanctions regimes, and environmental, social and governance standards.
  • Strong research and analytical capabilities, with a demonstrated ability to synthesise information on companies, industries, and geographies, particularly as it relates to financial crime, sanctions, supply chain risk, or regulatory matters.
  • Excellent organisational skills with keen attention to detail and a methodical approach to managing data, documentation, and operational processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to contribute to pitch materials, research summaries, and internal documentation.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, PowerPoint or Google Slides, and experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot).
  • Collaborative and adaptable mindset, with a willingness to support multiple teams and priorities across business development, sales, and marketing.
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

As a Kharon intern, you’ll gain practical experience supporting client strategy and operations, while learning directly from senior leadership, including former high-ranking officials with extensive backgrounds in the U.S. Department of the Treasury. You’ll contribute to meaningful projects, expand your understanding of geopolitical risk and financial crime, and build lasting connections and references to carry forward in your academic and professional journey.
